The Minister Designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, has vowed to thoroughly evaluate the operations of the Creative Arts Agency if confirmed, aiming to rejuvenate Ghana’s tourism and creative arts industries.

During her vetting by the Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the accomplished actress and politician underscored the necessity of aligning the agency’s functions with the ministry’s overarching goals.

She expressed concerns about the agency’s current direction, highlighting the need to revisit its original purpose. “The Creative Arts Agency, as envisioned during its formation, was intended as a ‘multi-purpose vehicle’ rather than a standalone agency,” she noted.

Hon. Gomashie pledged to examine the agency’s role to enhance its contribution to national development, particularly through tourism and the arts.

“When given the mandate, I will critically review the agency and its functions to ensure it operates cohesively with the National Commission on Culture and the ministry as a whole,” she stated.

She also emphasized that a revitalized Creative Arts Agency could play a transformative role in unlocking the full potential of Ghana’s tourism sector, driving sustainable development and cultural growth.
