Duplantis is a legendary pole vault Duplantis is a legendary pole vault

Legendary pole vault athlete, Armand Duplantis, has received a massive financial package for setting a new World Record at the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championship.

The athlete earned £74,000 for setting a new record, a feat he has accomplished for the 14th time in his career.

Aside from that, the athletics association will honour him with an additional £51,400 for clinching the gold medal, cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats in the sport.

The amount of money given for breaking a world record fluctuates and depends on the prize money available at each meeting.

    About Duplantis’ World Record

Armand Duplantis soared into history once more at the World Athletics Championship, clearing 6.30m to set a new pole vault world record.

The Swedish star, already a two-time Olympic champion and now a three-time world champion, became the first man to ever cross the 6.30m barrier.

His jump gave him a margin of 30cm over the field inside the Japan National Stadium, underlining his dominance in the event.

The venue holds special memories for Duplantis. Four years ago, he won his first Olympic gold medal there with a vault of 6.02m during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then, he has taken the event to new heights, raising the world record from 6.16m to 6.30m.

In 2025 alone, Duplantis has broken the record four times: 6.27m in France, 6.28m in Stockholm, 6.29m in Budapest, and now 6.30m in Tokyo.

His unbeaten run has stretched to 36 straight finals, including 16 victories in 2025, with 14 career world records now to his name.
