The funeral of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

In anticipation of the state funeral, GhanaWeb TV visited Independence Square to provide a roving report on the ongoing preparations.

The venue, which has hosted several historic national events, is being prepared to accommodate dignitaries, family members, and citizens who will gather to pay their last respects.

During preparations, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the eldest daughter of Nana Konadu and Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, was seen leading her siblings and extended family.

They were joined by officials from National Security, who are working to ensure smooth organisation and tight security at the grounds.

Together, they inspected arrangements and coordinated efforts to ensure the ceremony reflects the stature of the late First Lady.

The funeral is expected to attract high-profile personalities, including political leaders, diplomats, and members of civil society, underscoring Nana Konadu’s enduring influence on Ghana’s political and social landscape.

Nana Konadu, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was a towering figure in Ghanaian politics and women’s empowerment, remembered for her leadership of the 31st December Women’s Movement and her lifelong advocacy for social justice.
