He was the Director-General of Ghana’s Internal Audit Agency (IAA) before his appointment

The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) has appointed Dr Eric Oduro Osae as its new Chief Executive Officer, with his tenure officially beginning on Monday, January 5, 2026.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, Dr Oduro Osae takes over the leadership of ICAG with over 25 years of extensive experience as a Chartered Accountant, lawyer, and governance expert.

A Fellow of ICAG and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, Dr Oduro Osae has served in both national and international capacities.

Before his appointment at ICAG, he was the Director-General of Ghana’s Internal Audit Agency (IAA), where he played a key role in strengthening public financial controls.

His international credentials include service as an Audit and Assurance Advisor to the United Nations as a member of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the UN General Assembly.

In 2024, the United Nations further recognised his expertise by appointing him as a Governmental Expert on Anti-Corruption under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

Dr Oduro Osae’s academic background is distinguished, holding a doctorate in political economy, a Master of Laws (LL.M.), and additional professional qualifications.

He has contributed substantially to professional knowledge, authoring and presenting more than ninety papers on topics including accounting, auditing, governance, and public finances.

He also has long-standing ties with ICAG, having previously served as an examiner and moderator in public sector accounting and finance, directly influencing the education and professional development of future accountants.

The ICAG Council urged all stakeholders—including members, staff, students, regulators, and the media—to offer their full support to the new CEO.

The Institute expressed confidence that under Dr Oduro Osae’s leadership, ICAG will continue to strengthen its position as a leading professional accountancy organisation in Ghana and the wider region, and anticipates a productive and transformative tenure ahead.
