The campaign team of the former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has announced the formal commencement of his nationwide campaign to become the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement dated October 14, 2025, the team said the campaign will begin on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with a tour of all 276 constituencies across the country.
According to the statement, the grassroots-focused tour is aimed at enabling Dr Bawumia to directly engage with polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives (current and former), former Members of Parliament, former MMDCEs, patrons, and members of the Council of Elders.

The campaign team explained that the initiative reflects Dr Bawumia’s commitment to listening, building consensus, and strengthening the party’s foundation from the grassroots.
“Dr Bawumia looks forward to sharing his vision and collectively working towards a resounding victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections,” the statement said.
The team also acknowledged the vibrant discussions surrounding the pending NPP presidential primary, describing them as evidence of the party’s democratic spirit.
However, it expressed concern over what it called a growing trend of personal insults and unsubstantiated attacks among some supporters.
In line with Dr Bawumia’s call for unity, the campaign team issued a directive to all communicators, supporters, and volunteers to maintain decorum and focus on issues.
It urged supporters to refrain from insults and personal attacks, base their arguments on verifiable facts, and uphold the dignity of the party throughout the campaign period.
“We believe in the superiority of Dr Bawumia’s message and his vision for our party and nation. When the debate is focused on issues, his qualifications, experience, and transformative ideas will resonate decisively with the delegates,” the statement indicated.
