The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) has launched a 30-day outreach program aimed at tackling gender-based violence in the region.
The program, themed “From Silence to Strength: Speak Up, Stand Up, Support,” kicked off on July 2 and will run until July 30, 2025.
Speaking at the conference on July 7, 2025, Chief Superintendent Victoria Yebooah, Regional DOVVSU Coordinator, stated that, “We want to assure the public that our doors are widely open to everyone who needs help”.
“We understand that many people, including children, men, and women, are suffering needlessly through violence, whether verbal, psychological, sexual, or physical.
“We want to kick out gender-based violence, and we urge everyone to trust us. We don’t disclose information”, she stated.
Chief Superintendent Yebooah emphasised the importance of protecting victims’ identities, especially children, and urged the media to respect their rights.
She also encouraged those affected by gender-based violence to speak up and seek help from DOVVSU.
The 30-day outreach program is a crucial step towards creating awareness and support for victims of gender-based violence.
She called on individuals who needs help, immediately reach out to DOVVSU for support.
“Let’s work together to break the silence and build a stronger, safer community”, she added.
