Entertainment journalist Doreen Avio has called on Ghanaians to show greater support for women in the music industry, stressing that female artistes are excelling and deserve wider recognition.

Doreen highlighted Gyakie, Wendy Shay, and Cina Soul as examples of women making remarkable strides with their recently released albums After Midnight, Ready, and Did I Lie, respectively.

In a Facebook post, she described this year as “a season for the Queens,” urging fans and stakeholders to champion women in music.

“The women are moving strong, and the spotlight is right where it belongs. This year, Gyakie, Wendy Shay Official, and Cina Soul have each stepped forward with powerful new albums: After Midnight, Ready, and Did I Lie, respectively. These projects speak volumes of artistry, growth, and resilience,” she wrote.

The host of Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM noted that the albums have been well received, gaining substantial airplay and impressive streaming figures across digital platforms.

“All three albums are receiving massive airplay and streams across platforms. The people are listening, and the culture is responding,” she added.

She stressed that the artistes deserve nominations in top award categories, including Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year.

“But this is where we come in. It’s time to support them fully with every stage, every playlist, every interview, and every social push. Their names and their music deserve to be heard, seen, and celebrated, especially in the Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year categories,” she said.

Avio also urged industry stakeholders, including musicians, producers, media personalities, and fans, to rally behind female acts and amplify their achievements.

“To every woman in the space [i.e. musicians, producers, media voices, fans, and creatives] let’s rally behind these queens and make their success echo across the industry,” she stated.
