Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has urged the Ghanaian media to uphold truth, fairness, and accountability in their reporting, cautioning against the growing trend of agenda-driven journalism.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2026 CAVB Zone III Volleyball Club Championship in Accra on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the Minister emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in shaping national discourse and influencing how the public perceives both sports and leadership.

He challenged journalists to commit to accuracy and integrity rather than promoting personal or institutional interests.

“We can do it together if we give space to every sport and we report rightly. And to us who are given the opportunity to serve in any capacity, if we hold the truth high and be accountable to our people and do the right thing, this is the country that we can see,” he said.

The Minister urged reporters to reflect on the broader vision of building a vibrant and united sporting culture in Ghana, one where coverage is guided by honesty rather than bias.

“Picture the country where all the sports are doing well and are very active, and just imagine how that would look like. The opportunities that will be there as media persons to be reporting and to be having content that you will put out there, and imagine how well we will all become,” he noted.

Adams concluded his address with a strong appeal for ethical journalism.

“Let’s report right, let’s bring out the issues. Let’s not become people who may set one agenda negatively or the other for one person. That is not what I represent,” he added.

His comments come as Ghana prepares to host the CAVB Zone III Volleyball Club Championship from March 1–8, 2026, under the theme “Uniting West Africa Through Volleyball Excellence.”
