Ghanaian comedian, Jeneral Nta Tia, has advised his colleagues in the entertainment industry to be cautious about how they mix politics with their careers.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie at the just-ended “Jacinta the 4runner” concert, held on December 7, 2025, Jeneral Nta Tia emphasised that comedians should avoid using insults when expressing their political opinions.

“I got to know that supporting a political party is not bad, but how you carry yourself is the most important thing. Don’t go and insult your opponent because you belong to a political party. It’s a democracy. You tell people your mind, what you feel the person you are supporting can do, and that’s all.

I don’t regret supporting NPP – Jeneral Ntatia

“Don’t go and attack. If you attack, you provoke people, and they will also come after you. So far, I don’t have any beef with anyone. My brothers and their friends in the NDC come around, we vibe, we share ideas. And I’m the type that if something is not good, I will say it,” he said.

The comedian also appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to construct more theatres to support the growth of the comedy industry.

He explained that although Ghana has many talented individuals, the lack of adequate theatre infrastructure makes it difficult to discover and nurture such talent.

“My government promised, but they couldn’t deliver. I hope that the NDC will consider building more theatres across the regions, so that when we put up a play, we don’t stage it only in Accra. We can go to Kumasi, Tamale, the Central Region, and every other region, so theatre and performances can thrive there as well.

“Trust me, there are thousands of talents who are even better than me, but they are not getting opportunities. So I feel that if these facilities come up, it will really help us. It will help the comedy industry grow,” he added.
