Ghanaian gospel music promoter Nii Noi has urged the public to stop blaming the Abusuapanin for what many described as the disorganised funeral of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, insisting that family disputes were the main cause.

Speaking in an interview on Onua TV on December 15, 2025, Nii Noi shared that the confusion surrounding the funeral stemmed largely from court actions involving sections of the family.

“The funeral we attended, I blame the families who were involved in court drama,” he said.

According to him, funerals, especially for a figure of Daddy Lumba’s stature, require careful planning and coordination, including the invitation of dignitaries, musicians and other stakeholders.

“A funeral is an event and a whole organised venture. It goes through the process of organising events, including the invitation of dignitaries, musicians and others,” he explained.

Nii Noi mentioned that before the legal disputes began, there was a sense that issues within the family had been resolved.

He noted that the situation could have been handled well if the two wives of the late musician had come together to plan the funeral.

“A week or two before the first case, we got the solution for the case. Everyone thought things were okay.

“If both wives had come together to plan the funeral, things would have been better. A part of them who decided to go to court brought all the uncertainties,” he stated.

Addressing criticisms against musicians who failed to attend the funeral, Nii Noi said such accusations were unfair, especially given prior professional commitments.

“You can’t blame any musician for not attending the funeral, especially when there were shows in Accra,” he stressed.

He was emphatic that responsibility should not be placed on the Abusuapanin alone.

“Don’t blame Abusuapanin for the disorganised funeral, blame the whole family, including those who took the plaintiff to court,” he said.

Nii Noi further pointed out that the family’s internal issues opened the door for public and media scrutiny.

“The family is the reason why the media and everyone else have something to say. We would have honoured the man well if they had taken care of everything the right way,” he added.
