Ghanaian gospel musician, Mama Esther Ghanaian gospel musician, Mama Esther

Ghanaian gospel musician, Mama Esther, has shared a peice of advice on how couples can sustain their marriage when facing marital issues.

Mama Esther, who has been married for four decades, stated in an interview with Zionfelix shared on Instagram on March 1, 2025, that couples should not be in a hurry to seek divorce when facing challenges in their marriage.

She emphasised that the Bible does not support divorce, therefore, couples going through challenges in their marriages should pray and be patient while hoping for the best.

“There is no need for you to ask for divorce if you are facing marriage issues. It is advisable to stay in the marriage… It is not because I had a soft and good marriage that is why I have been able to stay in my marriage. I have gone through a lot of challenges as well, but I used my mother’s marriage as an example to stay.

“The Bible has said that before a couple would go through a divorce, there should be a tangible reason. Even if the issue is a serious one, you should take it to prayer,” she stated.

The gospel musician, however, advised couples to refrain from abusing their partners.

“However, you shouldn’t use that as an excuse to abuse your partner. God would judge us based on what we did in marriage,” she added.
