Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has advised two gospel musicians Great Ampong and Nicholas Omane Acheampong to remain hopeful in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He encouraged the gospel artistes not to let the party’s disappointing defeat in the 2024 general elections discourage them from continuing their support as they have done in the past.
The Member of Parliament for Effutu commended the two gospel musicians and their colleagues for their immense support of the NPP during the 2024 general elections campaign period.
During a visit by Ampong and Acheampong to the MP’s office, Afenyo-Markin assured them that the party would conduct its internal elections and prepare adequately for the upcoming general elections.
“You and your friends who mounted platforms to sing and encourage people, I want to emphasise that you should not be discouraged. I urge you and your colleagues to stand firm.
“The NDC went into opposition and is now back. We will be electing our constituency, polling station, and regional officers, and then our flagbearer, so we can start moving forward. I believe that if we work together patiently, it will flourish,” he said.
Great Ampong and Omane Acheampong strongly advocated for the NPP and its flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, during the elections.
Other gospel artistes, including Diana Asamoah and others, composed a campaign song for the party, but it was not enough to secure them power.
