A question has been raised by actor and filmmaker, Eddie Nartey, on whether widows need a formal invitation to attend their late husband’s funeral.

His comment come amid discussions surrounding the funeral of the late Daddy Lumba, particularly the absence of Akosua Serwaa.

According to Nartey, he recently learned that Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, did not attend the funeral because she was not invited.

This development prompted his question, “The legal wife was not able to attend the funeral and I heard it was because she was not invited. Like my question is if you are the legal wife do you need to be invited to your husband’s funeral?” he asked.

Why Daddy Lumba’s first wife Akosua Serwaa was absent at his burial – Papa Shee explains

Recently, Papa Shee, a close associate of the late Daddy Lumba and Akosua Serwaa, explained why the late singer’s first wife did not attend the funeral, which was held on December 13, 2025.

In an interview on Adom TV’s morning show on December 15, 2025, Papa Shee said Akosua Serwaa was in Germany at the time and did not travel with her children for the funeral.

He said the Highlife legend’s wife was neither formally invited nor officially informed about the funeral date. She only learned about it through hearsay.

“Maame Akosua Serwaa was not officially notified about the funeral date and only heard about it through hearsay,” Papa Shee claimed.
