DJ Mainkind, known privately as Chris Darko Ankra, a respected DJ and presenter from Cape Coast, working at Eagle FM, has issued a passionate appeal to Lil Win to consider postponing the premiere of his movie as a gesture to honour the passing of Ghana’s iconic highlife music legend, Daddy Lumba.

During an interview on Coastal Television’s Entertainment Vibes on Friday, August 1, 2021, DJ Mainkind provided insightful remarks regarding the progress of the entertainment industry within the Central Region. He underscored the importance of unity and respect among creative professionals. Notably, DJ Mainkind extended a public invitation to renowned actor and movie producer Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Lil Win to reconsider postponing his movie premier to honour Daddy Lumber.

This appeal arises from the fact that the scheduled date of Saturday, August 2, 2025, for the movie premiere in Cape Coast, coincides with a vigil and candlelight procession to honour the late legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba, whose recent passing has deeply touched the nation, and he is therefore earnestly calling on Lil Win to postpone his own event.

“This isn’t just another event,” DJ Mainkind stated. “Daddy Lumba’s contribution to Ghanaian music and culture is immeasurable. The entire country is mourning, and this vigil is a moment for all of us—industry professionals, fans, and the public—to unite and honor him properly. I’m respectfully appealing to Lil Win to consider rescheduling the premiere so we can collectively give Daddy Lumba the farewell he deserves.”

He stressed that his request was not intended to stir tension or controversy but to encourage respect and solidarity during this period of national mourning. DJ Mainkind also noted that many potential attendees of the movie premiere would likely participate in the vigil, especially given Daddy Lumba’s profound influence in the Central Region and beyond.

As of now, Lil Win and his management team have not issued an official response to the appeal. However, DJ Mainkind’s comments have sparked significant conversation on social media and within entertainment circles.
