A woman has been arrested after she was caught on camera allegedly poisoning a female co-worker in Brazil because she was jealous over her promotion.
The 38-year-old suspect was taken into custody Thursday in the central city of Abaida de Goiás, nearly two weeks after she tried killing her colleague.
The woman, whose name was not released became outraged after her co-worker earned a promotion at a textile factory, the Goiás Civil Police said.
She got into an argument with the fellow worker, whose identity has also been withheld, and was ‘very angry’ after their boss announced the ascent on February 14.
The jealous worker waited for her colleague to leave and made her way to an area at work where their water bottles were stored, surveillance video footage showed.
She picked up her water bottle and dumped a chemical substance in it.
Her co-worker at point drank from the bottle and was burned in the mouth and immediately requested medical aid.
The envious worker is facing an attempted murder charge and could be sentenced from six to 20 years in prison if she is found guilty.

The murder attempt follows a rash of incidents in which people have been poisoned to death by vengeful family members in the South American nation.
Deise dos Anjos allegedly killed three of her husband’s family members and hospitalized three others with a poisoned cake during a Christmas Eve reunion at a home in Torres, a city in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Dos Anjos was arrested January 6 and was charged with triple homicide.
She was found dead in her jail cell on a women’s prison on February 13.
Authorities said the suspect became ‘very angry’ after learning that her colleague had been promoted at the textile factory where they were both employed
On February 10, Maria Silva and her boyfriend Francisco Costa were arrested for allegedly poisoning a New Year’s Day lunch that killed her family.
The victims included her two children and five grandchildren.
As part of the investigation, police arrested Costa on January 6 and accused of poisoning a rice, beans and fish meal that was left over.
In an attempt to absolve Costa, Silva tried to make her neighbor and former love flame, Maria da Silva, responsible by poisoning her coffee and killing her.
