Denver Broncos star Patrick Surtain II suffered a non-contact injury during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The cornerback, who was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 and has been selected for four consecutive Pro Bowls, was preparing to defend a pass when he pulled up.
Surtain II stayed down on the turf for a while as medics rushed to help him before he limped off the field with help from trainers.
The Broncos announced moments later he was questionable to return with an ankle injury.
The game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara proved to be a defensive battle with the game finely balanced at 3-3 after a blocked 49ers field goal at the end of the first half.
