Police have launched a hunt for a group of alleged dine and dashers after a group is accused of racking up a £539.70 food and drink bill and then leaving without paying.

Northamptonshire Police has released CCTV images of several people they wish to speak to as they track down the bill-dodgers.

A group of people ordered £539.70 worth of food and drink at a Miller & Carter restaurant on April 6 between 5pm and 7.10pm and left without paying, the force said.

The restaurant, which is part of the popular chain, has a high rating on Google and is renowned for its 30-day-aged British and Irish steaks.

Meanwhile, other dishes popular among punters include Salt & Pepper Calamari as well as the Miller’s Steakhouse Dirty Burger.

The force has launched a probe into the incident, hoping to catch the alleged dine and dashers.

The police have urged anyone who may recognise the group or have any information to notify them by calling 101 quoting incident number 26000213409.

Unfortunately, it is not the first time a Miller & Carter branch has been hit by freeloaders.

On March 27, two men left the Kettering restaurant after walking out of the popular chain without paying after enjoying a lunchtime meal.

One of the men was pictured with a thick beard and brown hair, wearing a hi-vis vest, while the other was donning a red hoodie.

It comes after a restaurant owner blasted a couple on social media, claiming they left without paying for their £195 meal.

Julien Jourdain, owner of Bistro on the Quay in Ipswich, alleged the pair had ordered a bottle of wine, two starters and two mains on April Fools Day.

They ordered two rib-eye steaks, snails, scallops, three double vodka and Cokes, as well as a bottle of St Emilion Grand Cru, a red wine sold for £49, he claimed.

CCTV footage showed the pair entering the restaurant, then standing outside and smoking a vape before leaving.

Mr Jourdain hit out at the pair online, accusing them of pretending to vape outside before leaving without paying in what he described as a ‘calculated act’.

When confronted, the man told a waiter that his money was in his car, the 44-year-old claimed.

The restaurateur said he contacted the police following the alleged incident, but was not prioritised due to an influx of calls.

Mr Jourdain also tried to search for the pair that night to no avail.

‘It has a negative impact on your mental well-being as well as the staff.  And also, obviously, has an impact financially,’ he said of dine-and-dashing.

‘But at the same time, we are pretty resilient. We know that the only thing that we can do is carry on.’
