Ghanaian stand-up comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, has criticised Minority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin following his recent comments on the amendment of the Special Import Levy Bill.

On March 26, 2025, after Parliament approved the Special Import Levy Amendment Bill, Afenyo-Markin stated that the John Mahama-led administration does not care about the plight of Ghanaians.

He argued that importers would be disappointed in both the president and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to the extension of the bill which they thought will be squashed.

But Afenyo-Markin’s statements did not sit well with DKB, who took to his X page on March 26, 2025, to vent.

In his tweet, DKB questioned whether Afenyo-Markin’s political party cared about Ghanaians during their 8 years in office.

“Your party kept it for 8 years; did you care about Ghanaians?” he asked.

Meanwhile, some netizens have shared mixed reactions in response to the ongoing development.

While some have criticised Afenyo-Markin’s statements, others have applauded him for holding the government accountable.
