Media personality Oyemykke has issued a warning to Nigerians living in the United States who are planning to travel home for the annual Detty December festivities.

In a recent message shared online, Oyemykke claimed he received information suggesting that Nigerians returning from the U.S. without an American passport could face challenges re-entering the country after the holidays.
Although he noted that he could not fully verify the claim, he said the potential risk was serious enough to warrant public attention.
According to him, individuals whose travel documents are not U.S. passports may want to reconsider their travel plans to avoid complications that could prevent them from returning to America to resume work, studies, or reunite with their families.
Oyemykke further downplayed the excitement surrounding Detty December, describing it as largely characterised by heavy traffic, noise, and overcrowded events.
He argued that the experience is not worth risking one’s immigration status or long-term future abroad, urging Nigerians abroad to carefully weigh their decisions and prioritise stability and security over seasonal celebrations.
Below are some of the comments;
“What is he even saying? Did you enter America illegally? Don’t you have your papers?“
“I don’t understand o. With the insecurity and kidnapping, I just dey wonder why some people dey go back to Nigeria.“
“Stop all this, stop making people scared…you are not American and stop making people fear…For updated travel information..log on to USCIS.gov.“
