Details have emerged about the identity of the personal assistant of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, whom the government of Ghana paid $20,000 for his presence at the 2022 World Cup.

Leaked 2022 World Cup budget documents showed that Otto Addo’s PA was paid $20,000.

As the conversations continue on the staggering figure, it has emerged that the person who received the said amount was not a personal assistant to Otto Addo.

Rather, the role was created on the budget list so that the amount could be used to compensate a Black Stars player who got injured while on national assignment.

Ernest Brew Smith of Peace FM claimed that the money was paid to an ex-footballer and not an aide of Otto Addo.

“In Otto Addo‘s case, what they claim is that the person designated as PA is a former player who suffered an injury, so it was a form of compensation for the player,” he said.

A report by MyJoyOnline indicated that the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) budget to the ministry included 54 people who earned $100,000 each as appearance fees.

The 54 people included the 28 players, the Black Stars management committee members, 22 technical team members, and GFA officials, among others.

The Black Stars exited the tournament at the group stage, winning one game and losing two out of the three matches played. As a result, they finished at the bottom of their group.
