The Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has expressed concern over some fraudulent accounts impersonating him on various social media platforms, particularly on Facebook.

“These imposters are engaging in deceitful activities, including promising false assistance in areas like security services recruitment and job opportunities, to defraud unsuspecting individuals,” he said.

A statement issued and signed by Mr Buah, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday reminded the public to avoid falling victims to those fraudsters.

“I am officially present on Facebook including Messenger and Twitter. My only official and authentic Facebook is verified with a blue badge or mark and has over 21,000 followers,” the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle said.

“This distinguishes it from all fake accounts created in my name.”

The statement said anybody who wished to engage with him on Facebook should do so on his official account on Messenger.

“My official Twitter account is also verified with a blue mark”.

Mr Armah-Kofi Buah said he did not have accounts on Instagram, TikTok or any other platforms apart from Facebook or X, formerly Twitter.

The statement said the official social media handles for reference were Facebook: @Armah-Kofi Buah1 and Twitter:@Armah-Kofi Buah.

It urged the public to disregard and disassociate themselves from any requests for friendship or engagement from those “fraudulent accounts.”

“If you encounter any suspicious or fraudulent accounts purporting to be me, please report them immediately to me or to the Ghana Police Service for investigations and possible prosecution of these scammers,” the statement said.
