Ghana has become one of Africa’s preferred destinations, especially for travelers seeking a memorable festive-season experience as the year draws to an end.

A major pull factor is the AfroFuture Festival, which has played an important role in Ghana’s rise as a destination for international tourism.

The event is particularly popular with younger diaspora travelers eager to reconnect with their African heritage through music, culture and shared experiences.

The first day of the two-day festival on December 28, 2025, followed this familiar trend as thousands of people made their way to Accra.

El Wak Sports Stadium played host to arguably the continent’s biggest music and cultural celebration, buzzing with excitement from early evening.

AfroFuture brings together a global audience to enjoy a mix of international and local artistes, DJs, activations and food representing different parts of Africa. The 2025 edition was no exception, with day one delivering nonstop energy.

The opening day lineup featured Nigerian superstar Asake as the headliner, alongside performances from Ghana’s King Paluta, Moliy and Melissa, as well as Obi’s House from Nigeria.

King Paluta was the first to take the stage at 10:25 pm, running through back-to-back hits from his catalogue. Songs like “Makoma” and “Aseda,” among others, kept the crowd engaged until he wrapped up his set at 10:39 pm.

Moliy followed around 11 pm, opening her performance with “Sad Gurlz Love Money,” the Amaarae song she featured on.

She later brought her sister, Melissa, on stage, and together they performed “Kweku,” her collaboration with Joey B. The global star also treated fans to performances of “Shake It to The Max” and an energetic rendition of “Backie.”

Nigerian hitmaker Asake, also known as Mr Money, took over the stage at about 1:20 am, thrilling fans with a string of popular records.

His set included a special appearance by King Promise, whose contribution added to the night’s standout moments.

Asake continued his performance, keeping the crowd locked in from start to finish.

Attention now shifts to day two of the festival on December 29, 2025, which will be headlined by Nigerian Afrobeats artiste Rema, following Asake’s headline performance on the opening night.

Joining Rema on the second day is Ghanaian artiste KiDi, whose blend of Highlife and Afropop has earned him recognition across Africa.

The lineup also features selection of international DJs, including Skyla Tylaa, DJ LAJ, DJ RBnice, Flygerian, DJ Mohogany, Afrolektra, TMSKDJ and DJ Oreo.

Guiding the crowd throughout the festival will be MC Lola, Kojo Manuel, Princess AJ and Michael Nichols, adding extra energy and a global touch to the Afrofuture experience.
