Black Stars midfielder, Daniel Kofi Kyereh has been sidelined for years following a cruciate ligament injury, as the 2025/2026 season gets underway.

The SC Freiburg star was once again absent from the squad in their goalless draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on matchday 6 of the 2025/2026 Bundesliga season on October 5, 2025.

Kyereh has been out of action since February 2023 after suffering a devastating cruciate ligament injury.

It’s been nearly three years since he last graced the pitch, back in the 2022/23 season when he was a mainstay for both club and country.

Black Stars depart Casablanca for Meknes on October 7

As he nears the final stages of recovery, he is reportedly targeting a return in late October 2025 to play for Freiburg.

His ultimate goal is to recover fully and perform well enough to impress head coach Otto Addo and earn a call-up to join the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup.

A fully fit Kyereh was one of the most formidable midfielders for the Black Stars and was widely regarded as one of the finest talents Ghana has produced.
