Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has criticised former Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare, attributing the rise in fake death prophecies to his alleged inaction.
Shatta Wale claims Dampare’s tolerance of such pronouncements has allowed them to escalate.
Shatta Wale‘s comments follow the recent circulation of an online video in which a self-proclaimed man of God claimed to have had a spiritual vision depicting armed men attempting to end Shatta Wale‘s life.
According to the prophet, Shatta Wale reportedly escaped the initial assault and subsequently posted on social media to thank God for his survival.
However, the same individual then claimed that three different men later appeared and shot Shatta Wale dead in the vision.
This prophecy has angered Shatta Wale, who views such statements as dangerous and asserts they should not be dismissed lightly.
Reacting to the video on X on July 22, 2025, the musician issued an ultimatum to the Ghana Police Service.
He demanded that the prophet be arrested within a week, warning that if no action is taken, he would take matters into his own hands, clarifying that his response would not involve violence but serve as a lesson to this country.
“Men of God indeed, this is what Dampare supported and it escalated. Ghana Police, if you don’t arrest this man within 1 week, nobody should blame me for what I am capable of doing and it won’t be violence but a lesson to this country,” Shatta Wale posted.
This is not the first time Shatta Wale has been the subject of a death prophecy.
In 2021, a pastor named Jesus Ahuofe made a similar prediction that the artiste would be shot.
That incident led to Shatta Wale faking his own death, resulting in his and the pastor’s arrest.
Shatta Wale was subsequently jailed for several weeks for causing fear and panic.
