The ongoing family and legal drama surrounding the late highlife icon, Daddy Lumba, has escalated with his elder siste Akosua Brempomaah, reportedly filing a complaint against their uncle, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, at the Kumasi Central Police Station.

The action, reported by YouTuber and blogger Grace TV on the TikTok page ‘Koforidua Flowers,’ stems from the alleged disappearance and misuse of funds from the musician’s funeral account.

According to the report from Kumasi, Madam Ernestina Fosuh, accompanied by hiplife legend turned Evangelist Papa Shee and other family members, reported the matter to authorities on November 19, 2025.

The complaint centers on the discovery of a signed cheque for a significant withdrawal from the funeral account. Ms. Fosuh reportedly suspects the funds were intended to be used for setting up a billboard advertising the upcoming funeral.

Ernestina Fosuh views this as a misuse of funds, especially since the official funeral date has not yet been finalised due to the lingering court case over Daddy Lumba’s marital status and estate.

The funeral account, initially set up in the lead-up to Daddy Lumba’s one-week observance, is controlled by members of the now-dissolved funeral committee, which was headed by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu.

This is not the first controversy surrounding the account’s finances.

Earlier, the Abusuapanin (family head) had publicly admitted to withdrawing GH¢30,000 from the account to cover his hotel bills incurred while in Accra, a disbursement that had already sparked significant family controversy.

The police report filed by Ernestina Fosuh highlights the deepening rifts within the family as they grapple with the practical and legal challenges following the highlife legend’s passing.

The investigation is expected to focus on the authorisation and purpose of the recent significant withdrawal.
