The final funeral rites of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, are currently underway at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The music icon, who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60, has been at the centre of a complex family dispute over who has the authority to lead and finance his funeral arrangements.

Despite the legal challenges and family disagreements, the Accra High Court on December 12, 2025, ordered that Daddy Lumba’s funeral should proceed as scheduled on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

This followed an earlier ruling by the court directing the applicants seeking to halt the funeral to deposit GH¢2 million with the court by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 or risk having the funeral go ahead as planned.

The court noted that while it acknowledged the concerns raised by the applicants, granting an injunction would carry significant financial implications and could unfairly burden the respondents.

The judge therefore ordered the applicants who include members of Daddy Lumba’s maternal family to pay the GH¢2 million as security to cover potential costs arising from any delay.

However, after the applicants failed to meet the court’s directive, the court ruled that the funeral should proceed on December 13, 2025.
