The head of the extended family of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, known as Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, has broken his silence on the shocking death of the musician’s passing.

In an interview he has granted Ghpage and sighted by zionfelix.net, the family head raised some concerns about the handling of the deceased icon’s body and the legitimacy of certain decisions being made by his current wife.

Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu stated emphatically that he has not seen the body of his nephew and, therefore, has not fully come to terms with the news of his death.

“Unless I see the mortuary keys and the body itself, I can’t confirm he is gone,” he insisted and revealed that he had dispatched relatives to Accra’s Bank Hospital, where Daddy Lumba is reported to have died after a short illness on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

He also disclosed that he does not know the current wife of Daddy Lumba. “The only wife I know is the one he married in Germany,” he explained.

According to him, the woman currently being identified as the late musician’s wife was never customarily introduced to the family and added that when he recently tried to reach out and have a conversation with her, she refused to speak with him entirely.

The family head also expressed deep dissatisfaction with plans to organize a candlelight procession in Accra on August 2, 2025, saying it was unacceptable for such an event to be held without the involvement and approval of the family.

Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu emphasized that once he has verified the death of Daddy Lumba, whose real name was Charles Kwadwo Fosu, the family would proceed with the proper traditional rites.

He mentioned that at that point, he would be ready to formally inform dignitaries such as Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, President John Mahama, and others.
