The head of the family of the late legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Daddy Lumba, has finally spoken briefly to the media following the adjournment of the injunction case filed against the family by the musician’s wife, Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh.

A High Court in Kumasi on Thursday, October 16, 2025, adjourned the injunction application to October 28, 2025, after hearing preliminary arguments from both sides.

The case, which revolves around disputes concerning the funeral arrangements and widowhood rites of the late icon, saw legal representatives from both parties present in court.

According to Madam Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer, William Kusi, the adjournment became necessary after the opposing legal team, representing Odo Broni, challenged his client’s capacity to bring the matter before the court.

It had been reported that Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, who presided over the case, ruled that the matter be adjourned to allow for the necessary documents to be filed before substantive arguments could continue.

Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer further assured that the court has promised to set a clear timetable to ensure the case is resolved quickly so that the funeral arrangements can proceed as planned.

Meanwhile, videos captured after the court proceedings show Daddy Lumba’s family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Abraham being surrounded by cameras and journalists as he made his way to board his car.

The media and several bloggers repeatedly tried to get him to comment on the adjournment, but he remained calm and avoided making any controversial statement.

When he finally spoke, his only words were, “All we need is peace.” He refused to add anything further, despite persistent questioning from reporters who followed him to his car.

The case, originally filed on October 3, 2025, by Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, seeks several declarations from the court, including official recognition as the only surviving legal spouse of the late Highlife legend and the sole person entitled to perform widowhood rites during his funeral.
Both parties are expected to return to court on October 28, 2025, for the continuation of the proceedings.
