Papa Shee stated that the event will take place on March 28 and 29

Gospel musician and close associate of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, Evangelist Papa Shee, has announced plans for a ‘celebration of life’ ceremony in honour of the iconic musician.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Papa Shee disclosed that the event will take place on March 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra.

He explained that the gathering is not a funeral but a celebration of the life and legacy of Daddy Lumba.

According to him, the decision and details of the event were communicated by the late musician’s family.

“His wife Akosua Serwaa will definetly be there. The family will also be at the funeral. But the venue this time will be at Accra, the date will be on the 28th and 29th on March 2026. It will be a celebration of the life of Daddy Lumba. That is the information from the family, the exact venue has not been disclosed yet,” he said.

Papa Shee extended an open invitation to the general public, encouraging fans, sympathisers, and well-wishers to participate in the celebration.

He also expressed appreciation to supporters of Akosua Serwaa, particularly those who welcomed her upon her arrival at the airport earlier in January.

Papa Shee noted that the show of love and solidarity would not be forgotten.

“Everyone is duly invited. We would like to appreciate the supporters of Akosua Serwaa, especially those who came to welcome her at the airport. The love they showed her will never be forgotten especially after the name tarnishing she has received over the years,” he added.

This event comes after the controversial funeral of the late Highlife legend which was held on December 13, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, following his passing in July 2025, with large turnouts from fans, family, and officials honoring his legacy.

The funeral which saw Daddy Lumba’s legally married wife Akosua Serwaa absent, came after a public legal battle between the two wives of the late icon.

Akosua Serwaa had argued that only she be recognised as the only wife of Daddy Lumba due to her legal status.

However, the dispute was finally resolved by a Kumasi High Court which ruled that the two wives be recognised.
