In a new twist to the ongoing developments following the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, his biological brother has broken his silence to clarify the family’s stance after recent public tensions involving their family head.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Lumba’s brother confirmed that the extended family has now been to the musician’s residence in Accra to verify the reports of his death.

According to him, the initial outrage expressed by their family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, stemmed from the fact that the family learned about Lumba’s passing through social media instead of through the proper customary channels, especially considering Lumba’s royal background.

The late musician’s brother further disclosed that following their visit, the wife and her family have since fulfilled the necessary traditional protocol by presenting a drink to formally inform the family of Lumba’s passing.

He also stressed that there is no bad blood and cautioned social media users against fueling unnecessary tensions or suggesting conflict between the family and Lumba’s widow.

He ended by announcing that the family will, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, inaugurate a media committee that will officially communicate on their behalf regarding all matters concerning Daddy Lumba’s funeral and memorial plans.
