The legal battle over the funeral arrangements of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has taken another dramatic turn as both his Abusuapanin (family head) and representatives of his first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, appeared in court today, Thursday, October 16, 2025.
From videos sighted online, Daddy Lumba’s Abusuapanin was seen dressed formally in a black coat and a shirt in the the Kumasi High Court in the company of several family membersas tha the court reportedly convened to begin the hearing of the injunction case filed by the late musician’s first wife, who is seeking to stop the family from proceeding with funeral arrangements until certain disputes are resolved.
In the same footage, a woman alleged to be the sister of Akosua Serwaa Fosuh was also seen in court representing her sister’s interests, as Serwaa herself is currently in Germany and could not appear in person.
This legal confrontation follows earlier reports that Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, who identifies herself as the legally wedded wife of Daddy Lumba, has filed an injunction against his family, claiming she and her children were sidelined in the planning of his funeral.
In her suit, she is asking the court to temporarily halt all funeral arrangements until her grievances are properly addressed and her marital status formally recognised in the process.
The Abusuapanin and the Fosu family, however, have strongly opposed the motion, insisting that Serwaa and the late musician had long been separated and that the current funeral plans were sanctioned by the family in accordance with Akan customs.
They maintain that the funeral preparations will honour the late musician’s legacy and wish to proceed without interference.
