Ghanaian entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has said Daddy Lumba was a “musical god”.
Speaking on United Showbiz on July 27, 2025, Arnold mentioned that Daddy Lumba was one of the artistes who got a lot of respect and love from the young ones.
“Daddy Lumba was one of the artistes who got a lot of respect among the young ones. He got lots of love among the ones. Most often than not, on his birthday, you will see the likes of Sarkodie and few people post him. I don’t know any musician who (sic)” Arnold said.
He continued, “The kind of love that was shown to him when he was alive, I will not also agree if someone says we didn’t celebrate him when he was alive. He was one of the people that was celebrated every chance we got because we realised the kind of clout and status he was having.”
Arnold further stated that Daddy Lumba’s status is beyond legendary.
“His status is not legendary; it’s beyond legendary. He was a god and that’s how big he was. He left a huge legacy for us, so we should limit the comparison between Daddy Lumba and Michael Jackson.”
He added that Daddy Lumba’s lyrical prowess was beyond the world.
“Daddy Lumba’s lyrical prowess was on top of the world and his ability to actually write and coin words was something else. Sometimes when you listen to his music, you will need him to come explain the lyrics. That’s how weird his personality was in terms of his song writing skills.”
