Ghanaian Gospel singer, Selina Boateng, has shared that her path nearly crossed more permanently with late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba when he expressed interest in signing her after their 2004 collaboration “Eye N’adom.”

During an interview on Kessben FM, she explained that the offer came unexpectedly during their studio session, but contractual obligations with her existing label meant she had to turn it down.

Boateng recalled that after they completed the song, Lumba told her he loved the track and wanted to take on the role of her producer. She noted that while she appreciated the gesture, her hands were tied because of her prior agreement.

Reflecting on her time working with him, Boateng described Lumba as a remarkably generous artist who would sometimes hand out money on the spot to musicians whose performances moved him.

Selina Boateng said that if a singer delivered an exceptional take and the song touched him, he would quietly take out cash and give it as a token of appreciation.
