Veteran broadcaster, Kwame Sefa Kayi, has appealed to the family of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, urging them to put an end to their public feud and unite to give the singer a dignified farewell.

Speaking on his morning show, Sefa Kayi expressed sadness over how the late musician’s funeral arrangements have become a subject of public controversy.

“Daddy Lumba came to do his part. His time is up, so he has left. That is why I am begging Daddy Lumba’s family, we beg you. He doesn’t deserve this,” he said.

He added that while the legendary singer may have made mistakes during his lifetime, just like any other human being, it is heartbreaking to see his memory overshadowed by conflict and legal battles.

Sefa Kayi further appealed to people close to the family to intervene and help restore peace, stating that the late artiste deserved to be remembered for his immense contribution to Ghanaian music, not family disputes.

The appeal comes amid an ongoing legal and family tussle surrounding Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements.

The late musician’s legal wife, Akosua Serwaa, took legal action against her co-wife, Odo Broni, the family head, Victor Kofi Owusu Banahene, and Transitions Funeral Home, just days after the burial date was announced.

In her court filings and subsequent press statements, Akosua Serwaa, joined by some of her sisters-in-law, raised allegations against members of the funeral committee and called for an investigation into her husband’s death.
