The Dada Foundation-Ghana has launched a GH¢5 million maternity project for the Atua Government Hospital in Krobo Odumase to improve healthcare delivery in the Eastern Region.

The proposed 20-bed maternity block, to be situated on an approximately 720 sqm area of land, will be equipped with world-standard facilities to handle maternal and child healthcare at the hospital.

It includes a laboratory, triage, reception, delivery ward, lying-in ward, theatre, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), nurses’ station, storerooms and kitchenettes.

The Acting Executive Director of Dada Foundation, Mr. Jacob Fynn, appealed to Corporate Ghana and individuals to support the fundraising initiative with donations for the construction of the maternity project.

He said the launch of the project coincided with the first Dada Legacy Awards which honoured Dr. Fynn with the ultimate award for his remarkable leadership, selfless service and impact on national and continental development.

“Other notable award winners were the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, Founder of the Lordina Mahama Foundation; Dr. Akosua Dzifa Hagan, Registrar of the Lutheran Theological Seminary; Mr. Stephen Ameyaw, Founder and CEO of Shrinq Limited; Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, Founder of Engineers and Planners, and Ghana West Africa Medical Mission Inc.

They were recognised for their outstanding contribution to health, education, business innovation and philanthropy,” he underlined.

Mr. Fynn further indicated that working with health professionals and medical institutions over the years, the Foundation was concerned about the many communities still lacking well-equipped maternity facilities, which remain one of the biggest barriers to reducing maternal mortality.

He stated that with the support of its banking partners – OmniBISC, the Foundation intends to raise the GH¢5 million project funding over the next 12 months, after which construction works will begin.

“So far, it has raised more than GH¢500,000 for the maternity project dedicated to bringing relief to thousands of pregnant women within the catchment area of the hospital,” Mr. Fynn revealed.

Moreover, he said the Foundation was seeking to build similar health facilities in other needy communities across the country, all in honour of the life and impact of Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, Founder and Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana.

Nana Addae Gyamera I, Chief of Feyiase in the Ashanti Region, reflected on Dr. Fynn’s enduring influence, describing him as “a shining example of leadership, compassion and service” whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
