Ghanaian rapper, Darlington Agyekum, popularly known as D-Cryme, has been elected as the Student Representative Council (SRC) President of Methodist University Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The announcement came via a post on X on Saturday, April 12, 2025, where D-Cryme shared a celebratory artwork with the text “Congrats! Darlington Agyekum (Dr Cryme) SRC President Elect.”
D-Cryme, known for hit songs like “Kill Me Shy” and “Fine Fine Girl,” had previously declared his candidacy, outlining a vision focused on fostering a vibrant student community at the university.
The victory has been met with several congratulatory messages from his followers on social media.
D-Cryme’s win follows a trend of Ghanaian musicians taking on student leadership roles.
In 2022, celebrated reggae artiste, Samini, was sworn in as SRC President at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), while rapper Guru currently serves as SRC President at the University of Ghana.
