Ghanaian rapper and businessman, Desmond Blackmore, well-known as D-Black, has explained why most artistes in the country struggle after leaving record labels.

The owner of Black Avenue Muzik gave an insight into this in an exclusive interview with ZionFelix.

Having known it all and worked with multiple artistes, who have left his record label, his assertion on this topic was from personal experience and perspective.

While Black Avenue Muzik and Lynx Entertainment were cited as examples in the question asked by Zion, D-Black stated that it was not due to the labels.

He explained that these labels are owned by people the industry respects, so following their exit, they may not get such a support system again.

Though he sees exit as an exit, D-Black noted that it also depends on how the artiste leaves.

When asked if he has any intention of collapsing his record label, he gave a ‘no’ answer, however, Black added that there’s a change of direction and strategy.

D-Black further revealed how Joey B, Sefa, Dee Moneey and DJ Breezy exited his record label.
