Ghanaian cyclist Ibrahim Jazil Abanga has embarked on a 600-kilometre journey from Tamale to Accra to promote national unity and youth empowerment through technical skills development.

The six-day cycling expedition, which began on March 1, 2026, is being carried out under the theme “Pedal for National Unity, Youth Empowerment, and Resetting Ghana through Technical and Vocational Education.”

By the third day of the journey, Abanga had covered hundreds of kilometres and was approaching Kumasi after passing through several towns in northern Ghana. His route started from Tamale to Buipe on the first day before continuing to Techiman on Day Two.

He is expected to continue through Nkawkaw and Nsawam before concluding the journey in Accra.

The long-distance ride aims to promote unity among Ghanaians while encouraging young people to pursue opportunities in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Abanga’s effort has already drawn support from communities along the route, with residents cheering him on and engaging in discussions about youth empowerment and skills development.
