Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie

Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has called on Ghanaians to stop criticizing the CEO of Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, over a viral video in which he is seen handing dollar bills to Agradaa.

In a post shared on Facebook on May 12, 2025, Dzifa Gomashie recounted an incident that happened prior to the 2024 general election where Sammy Gyamfi willingly decided to financially support her campaign.

She emphasised that the politician is a giver, thus, Ghanaians should accept his apology since he has publicly apologised for his actions.

“I met him for the first time when he was contesting to be the National Communication Officer. He was introduced to me by his campaign team. They asked for my vote. Subsequently, I became one of his many aunties.

“I met him again when I was campaigning in 2024. I asked him to come campaign with me in my beloved Ketu South for our presidential candidate. This young man offered to support me financially if I could reschedule the event later. His reason was he was so busy on that date I had chosen. But he still honored his promise and came,” she said.

Dzifa Gomashie added, “My girlfriend offended him on that day. I was so embarrassed. I sent him a message to apologize for her behavior.

He accepted the apology. Today, I too accept, his APOLOGY. I hope you accept his apology too.”

Recounting her first meeting with Agradaa, Dzifa Gomashie noted that during their first encounter, she was surprised by how Agraada sprayed dollars at an event.

“I have seen this lady only once in my life, in 2020. She was at the event where Madam Grace Omaboe aka Maame Dokono and 2 others were being honored with cars for their commitment to the Creative Arts.

“I agreed to attend to assist in honoring Auntie Grace. This “Osofo” shared so many dollars at the event I had to ask who she was. This life still baffles me. Learn, unlearn, and learn again,” she added.

The video, which sparked nationwide outrage, showed Gyamfi counting dollar bills from his car before Agradaa snatched them and flaunted the cash to onlookers.

The act has been widely condemned widely, especially amid economic hardships and President Mahama’s recent Code of Conduct barring opulence by public officials.
