Against all odds, we were successful with the climax of the 2025 Gawbofest—by hosting the Gaw Literary Legend’s Evening in celebration of Zikpitor Ladé Wosornu (Professor)—at the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) House to commemorate the 2025 African Writers’ Day in Ghana.

At the event jointly produced by the Ghana Association of Writers and the Creative Arts Agency of Ghana, with support from the Pan African Writers Association, the Creative Arts Agency honoured Prof. Ladé Wosornu and announced a planned Lifetime honour with the “Ladé Wosornu Literary Nest” project—dedicated to unearthing new Ghanaian literary powerhouses.

The event was graced by Margo Pitura (Programmes manager – Private Sector, Trade and Culture), who represented the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, Carl Ampah (the National Programme Officer (Culture), UNESCO Ghana) who represented the Country Representative of UNESCO Ghana; Ernesticia Lartey Asuinura, the Executive Director of the Ghana Book Development Council; Kathy Knowles, Founder of the Osu Children’s Library; and others.

With over two hundred participants, the evening focused on a conversation regarding the impact of the legend of focus—Ladé Wosornu—on the education, culture and literary heritage of Ghana.
