Pretty Mike, the owner of Proxy Lagos Night Club, was arraigned alongside the club’s supervisor, Joachim Hillary, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The duo faced charges of conspiracy, unlawful possession, and permitting the use of their premises for drug-related activities.

According to NDLEA prosecutor Buhari Abdullahi, the alleged offences occurred on October 26, 2025, at the club located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The prosecution alleged that the defendants conspired to organize a drug party at the venue, during which officers reportedly recovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), weighing 364.662 kilograms in total.

Hillary was further accused of possessing 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa a day earlier, on October 25, 2025.

The NDLEA charged Pretty Mike with permitting his nightclub premises to be used for illicit drug activities, in violation of Sections 14(b) and 20(1)(c) of the NDLEA Act.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Lead defence counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms, arguing that neither defendant had any prior criminal record and that they would make themselves available for trial.

However, the prosecution opposed the application, claiming the defence failed to provide sufficient supporting details.

In his ruling, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa held that the prosecution did not establish any compelling grounds to deny bail, emphasizing that the defendants remain presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The judge granted each defendant ₦50 million bail with two sureties in like sum, who must also swear to an affidavit of means.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa ordered that the defendants be released to their counsel pending the completion of their bail conditions.

The case was adjourned for further hearing on a date yet to be fixed.
