A nurse, Courage Babanawo, has been elected as the Ketu South Constituency Deputy Youth Organiser for the National Democratic Congress.
He recorded a convincing victory as his contender, Allah Thomas Kwame, polled 80 votes, representing 28% of the total votes.
Mr Babanawo’s message to build a stronger youth base for the party resonated well with the delegates, who gave him 205 votes, representing about 72% of the total votes in the constituency executives’ election.
In an interview with Joy News, he assured of his readiness to serve, mobilise, and empower the youth at the grassroots level, stressing that the youth are the “backbone and driving force of the NDC”.
He believes that committing to building a stronger and more vibrant youth base would increase the party’s performance in the 2028 general election.
Mr Babanawo added that he would not relent in working with the other executives to strengthen party structures and ensure unity at every level of the party.
“I pledge to serve with loyalty, discipline, humility, and dedication. I will work closely with party leadership, executives, comrades, and all stakeholders to advance the fortunes of the NDC and deepen youth participation in party activities”, he added.
Mr Babanawo has served as Deputy Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) Organiser, Tamale Nursing and Midwifery Training College; TEIN President, Tamale Nursing and Midwifery Training College; Branch Communications Officer, Wuduoba LA Primary; Member, Communications Committee, Ketu South Constituency; Member, Special Operations Committee (Youth Wing), Ketu South NDC; and Communications Team Member, Volta Region.
