They walked into university as two. They walked out as three.
A Nigerian couple has warmed hearts and sparked lively debate online after sharing a side-by-side of their matriculation photo and their convocation photo, taken four years apart.
The difference between the two images tells a story that no caption could fully capture, though the baby in the tiny graduation cap does a pretty good job of summing it up.

The couple, whose journey began in their first year at university, both went on to complete their degrees, the young woman graduating with a B.Sc. in Environmental Management while her partner earned his in Microbiology. The woman, who goes by @prematts0 on social media, shared the photos with a caption that kept things simple and grateful: “GOD DID!!!”
What caught everyone’s attention though was not just the degrees. It was the third person in the convocation photo. Their son, decked out in his own tiny graduation hat, was right there in the frame alongside his parents on one of the biggest days of their academic lives. The detail was too good to scroll past.
The internet, predictably, had things to say.
@ademigthy8 pointed out the mathematics of the situation with characteristic Nigerian wit, noting that two people went in for matriculation but three came out for convocation.
@Adufe could not get past the baby cap. @idarabong7 lamented that the baby had already taken a convocation photo before them. @ST-NER kept it short: “You don quick do awwwn.”
Not everyone was simply celebrating though. A section of the comments came with the kind of cautionary energy that Nigerians reserve for situations they find admirable but potentially misleading.
@Only1Reeyam said plainly that the post was not a sign, while @SISI OREKELEWA warned others not to try it at home. @D_west_muller congratulated the couple but slipped in a pointed question about how exactly they managed to pull it off.
The couple has not responded to the mixed reactions. They probably do not need to. The photos speak well enough for themselves.
