A member of the Council of State, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has held discussions with former Senegalese and Newcastle United footballer, Mohammed Diamé and his business partners on football development and talent discovery in the Volta Region on March 18, 2025.

The engagement, which took place during Diamé’s investment trip to Ghana, focused on structured football development, international collaborations, and sustainable investment in sports.

In a Facebook post on March 18, 2025, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple explained that the discussions explored key opportunities such as the establishment of youth academies, scouting initiatives, and mentorship programmes aimed at equipping young footballers with the right training and exposure.

Kwamigah-Atokple emphasised the significance of the Volta Region as a hub of untapped football talent and expressed optimism about harnessing these opportunities to nurture the next generation of football stars.

“The Volta Region has long been a hub of many talents. It is my prayer that we coordinate all these opportunities to develop our human capital,” he stated.
