The Cletus Nombil Foundation has launched its work with a visit to the Senior Correctional Center at Roman Ridge in Accra, spending a day with boys in the facility to offer encouragement, sports activities, and basic support.

The foundation, started by Ghana international footballer Cletus Daho Nombil of Czech club FC Zlin, organized the visit last week at the center, formerly known as the Borstal Institute.

During the visit, foundation members and visiting footballers played indoor games with the boys and held a motivational talk focused on discipline, self-belief and life after the center.

Ghanaian footballer Cosmos Dauda encouraged the boys to remain focused on their goals and not give up despite their challenges.

The day ended with a five-a-side football match between the visitors and the center’s team.

The boys won the game on penalties, drawing cheers from staff and guests.

    The foundation also donated

sports items, including eight sets of football bibs for the eight houses in the center, and shared lunch with the boys.

Cletus Nombil said the visit was personal for him.

“I grew up around this area, and this has always been something I wanted to do,” he said.

“This is my small way of giving back and helping to improve lives.”

He added that the foundation has identified several needs at the center and plans to work with partners to support the facility in a sustainable way.

Chief Superintendent Victoria Adu Amoh, who oversees sports at the correctional center, thanked the foundation for the visit and described it as different from previous donations.

“This one touched the boys directly. Sports is very important here. It helps build their confidence, discipline and prepares them to return to society and follow their dreams.”

Oman club strikerCosmos Dauda said he hopes the visit becomes an annual event and expands to other correctional centers across the country.

Ghanaian striker Ishak Suraj, who was also present, praised the initiative and pledged his support to help make it a yearly program.

The foundation said it plans to continue using sports and mentorship to support young people facing difficult circumstances.
