A plastic surgeon had his medical license yanked after he allegedly performed a tummy tuck and breast augmentation while under the influence of alcohol.

Dr. Azul Shirazali Jaffer allegedly operated on the patient at his practice on August 12 last year, according to the Texas Medical Board’s temporary suspension order.

Jaffer, 50, appeared unsteady on the operating table, made inappropriate remarks towards his surgical technician and his breath reeked of booze, the filing obtained by the Daily Mail said.

Another physician and his staff have alleged that Jaffer ‘routinely treats and operates on patients while intoxicated,’ the order stated.

He is accused of being drunk during a Botox injection procedure on August 4 and again during a tummy tuck surgery the very next day. The practice was allegedly forced to cancel procedures due to his impairment.

Staff at his Azul Plastic Surgery clinic in Sugar Land, southwest of Houston, claimed they found a liquor bottle hidden in a paper towel holder in the men’s restroom on July 9.

Jaffer was seen ‘stumbling to the men’s restroom where the container of liquor was found’ during the August 5 incident, the filing said.

He was arrested on December 22 and charged with performing surgery while intoxicated, a felony offense, police said. The medical board temporarily suspended his license eight days later.

Jaffer was released from jail two days after his arrest on a $5,000 bond with no restrictions on his ability to practice medicine, the board’s order stated.

The medical board panel opted to suspend his license, effective immediately, citing a threat to public welfare.

It will remain in effect until the board takes further action.

As his criminal case is still pending, Jaffer was ordered to surrender his passport, Fort Bend County court records show.

Jaffer was also sued in Fort Bend civil court last year by a patient who alleged he assaulted her in October 2022.

She claimed the alleged assault occurred while she was in recovery from a breast augmentation procedure at his practice, according to the filing obtained by the Daily Mail.

The lawsuit stated that the patient filed a report with local police, but court records did not show any criminal charges against Jaffer in connection with the alleged assault.

The alleged victim first filed a lawsuit against Jaffer in 2022, but records indicate she requested that it be dismissed. Her most recent case is still pending.

The Daily Mail has approached Jaffer’s attorney, Troy McKinney, for comment.

Jaffer, who has practiced plastic surgery for more than 22 years, is a five-star-rated surgeon, according to his website.

He obtained his Texas medical license in 2009 and performs various face, breast and body procedures.

He previously held medical licenses in Louisiana, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

He and his wife, Smita Jaffer, 44, own two homes in Sugar Land, each worth more than $600,000, county property records revealed.

It is unclear if the couple actively live in both residences or if one is an investment property.

Jaffer is listed as the manager on a filing for a company called Simba Real Estate LLC, which was incorporated in 2024. The firm is tied to his Ayers Rock Road residence.
