Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has suggested Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo as one of the possible replacements for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is uncertain, with the forward in a stand-off with the club over his contract.

In November 2024, the Egyptian forward hinted at leaving the club after stating that the club has offered him no deal.

Speaking after scoring a brace in a comeback win over Southampton on Sunday, November 24, 2024, Salah said the delay indicates that he is likely on his way out.

“I’m probably more out than in. I haven’t received any proposal. We’re almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club… I’m probably more out than in,” he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking ahead of Bournemouth’s game with Manchester United, Michael Owen urged Liverpool to consider Antoine Semenyo as a replacement for Mohamed Salah should he leave the club.

“I don’t think Mo Salah will leave this season, but in the event he leaves, I would be surprised if Liverpool don’t consider Semenyo as a replacement,” he said.

Semenyo has been in incredible form for Bournemouth in the 2024/2025 Premier League season.

He has scored five goals in seventeen appearances for Bournemouth across all competitions.
