The man accusing Washington Commanders receiver Stefon Diggs of sexual assault is lying ‘because he got caught stealing,’ according to the latest filing from the NFL star’s attorneys in the ongoing counter lawsuits.
Diggs was previously accused by sports and marketing influencer Christopher Griffith of drugging and sexually assaulting him at the NFL star’s Rockville, Maryland home in 2023. Griffith claimed Diggs then tried to silence him by ordering his brother, Darez Diggs, and others to attack the influencer, who claimed to have $100,000 in property stolen during the encounter.
Although Griffith and Darez Diggs have since settled that lawsuit for an undisclosed amount, the influencer was sued by Stefon Diggs for defamation in 2025 over the original sexual misconduct allegations, which the NFL star has continued to deny.
Griffith has since filed his own counter lawsuit against Stefon Diggs, insisting the sexual misconduct allegations are true. Furthermore, attorneys working on behalf of Griffith claimed in their countersuit that Diggs defamed their client by suggesting the sexual misconduct allegations against him resulted from a botched robbery attempt.
In his July Instagram post referencing Griffith, Diggs wrote that someone was ‘lying on my name because he got caught stealing.’
Now, in their latest filing obtained by The Daily Mail, Diggs’ attorneys denied any wrongdoing on their client’s behalf and insisted his post was protected speech because it was true. One of Diggs’ attorneys, Mitch Schuster, also commended the court’s decision to deny Griffith’s motion requesting a change of venue.

‘The latest filing is a routine answer to Mr. Griffith’s allegations, and operates to deny any and all liability, as Mr. Diggs has done throughout the entirety of this case,’ Schuster told The Daily Mail in an email.
‘Additionally, we are pleased with the Court’s latest decision denying Mr. Griffith’s motion to transfer venue. Mr. Diggs looks forward to presenting his defamation claims to a jury and remains confident that truth and justice will prevail.’
Griffith’s legal team previously handed over more than 100 pages of messages to the court, which they claim support evidence of sexual assault. The content of the messages has not been revealed, but Diggs downplayed the court submission in his aforementioned social media post.
‘100 pages?’ Diggs asked. ‘Okay post them then.’
Griffith’s attorney did not immediately respond to The Daily Mail’s request for comment.
Separately, Diggs is being sued in a second case by a former college teammate and personal assistant over defamation and conspiracy claims.
The 32-year-old receiver was initially sued in Miami-Dade County back in February by Nigel King (pictured), who played alongside Diggs at Maryland and later worked for the NFL star
Stefon Diggs is not personally accused of attacking King, but his brothers, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Trevon and the aforementioned Darez, are listed as defendants
The 32-year-old receiver was initially sued in Miami-Dade County back in February by Nigel King, who played alongside Diggs at Maryland and later worked for the NFL star.
As seen in the complaint obtained by The Daily Mail, King claims Diggs falsely blamed him for the 2024 theft of the NFL star’s Ferrari, which allegedly led Diggs’ associates to attack King at a Miami strip club in December.
Stefon Diggs is not personally accused of attacking King, but his brothers, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Trevon and the aforementioned Darez, were listed as defendants in the original complaint. King’s attorneys have since dropped allegations against Trevon Diggs.
The Daily Mail has been unable to reach Darez Diggs for comment about the complaint.
Stefon Diggs has denied orchestrating the attack in a motion to dismiss filed on his behalf and obtained by The Daily Mail.
In May, he was also found not guilty of felony strangulation as well as assault and battery charges against his former personal chef Jamila Adams.
The Commanders, it seems, were not fazed by the off-field issues and signed Diggs to a one-year deal with more than $10 million. Diggs has been slowed by hamstring and hand injuries this year, but was recently cleared off the team’s Week 8 injury report.
