Former Chris Hughton has revealed he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April last year but has since made a full recovery following successful treatment.

The 67-year-old, who previously coached the Ghana national football team, underwent surgery in May to remove his prostate after the disease was detected early. Hughton confirmed he is now cancer-free and in good health.

Speaking publicly about his condition for the first time, the former Tottenham Hotspur defender said he remained optimistic upon receiving the diagnosis and focused on undergoing the necessary treatment.

The illness was identified during a routine health check while he was managing Brighton & Hove Albion, where follow-up tests revealed elevated PSA levels. A scan later confirmed the presence of cancer.

Hughton has now pledged to raise awareness about prostate cancer, particularly among high-risk groups.

He managed Ghana between 2023 and 2024, following Otto Addo, before his dismissal after the team’s early exit at the Africa Cup of Nations.
