A young child has died in a horror house fire.
Emergency services were called to a home on Northcote Avenue in Swansea, on Lake Macquarie on the NSW Central Coast, about 1.30pm on Thursday.
NSW Police were told a woman in her 80s and two young children were inside the burning home.
One of the children was found dead inside and wasn’t able to be revived.
The other child, aged five, was treated for smoke inhalation but the elderly woman was rushed to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition with burns.
A teenage boy, who’d tried to enter the burning building, was also taken to hospital with serious lacerations to his leg.
‘Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters remain on scene,’ NSW Police said at 5.15pm.
‘Road closures in the area remain in place.’
